There is an old adage that if you give enough monkeys enough typewriters and enough time, one of them will produce a work comparable with one produced by Shakespeare. We think this is improbable, not impossible, but improbable. We then set our minds to considering how a piece of custom developed software could help our primate friends accomplish the task in hand.
We know that it is possible to teach monkeys the rules of precedence, so 3 buttons (1,2 and 3) should be within their capabilities to follow.
First things first, we need to create Shakespearean text. Instead of letting our monkeys freeform with a type writer, we could limit them to picking pre-formated passages of Shakespearean text. Button 1 will give a choice of paragraphs to choose from. Just that simple step should raise the probability of the task being accomplished. Paragraphs could be further broken down to: beginning, middle and end. Limiting choice further, towards the end of getting a completed work out.
Button 2 could be used to indicate text placement is finished. When pressed, this will collate the inserted paragraphs to a “best-fit” principal. The software will take all the inserted paragraphs and lay them out in the most readable fashion possible
Button 3 will be used to print the finished work.
The monkey’s chances of achieving the desired result have risen dramatically because of the use of custom software development.
